Wednesday Night Bible Studies

A Walk through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation

7:00 PM; In the Sanctuary
Co-Ed Bible Study led by Pastor John
Did you know... the Bible is huge: about 611,000 words long, all divvied up across 66 smaller documents called the “books” of the Bible and it’s all inspired by God!

That’s because the Bible is a collection of writings from different authors writing at different times. In some ways, that makes it easier to approach the Bible: we can read it in “chunks” rather than needing to read the whole Bible at once.

But it also makes it a bit confusing. The Bible itself is a book. In fact, the word “bible” comes from the Latin and Greek words for “book” (biblia and biblos, respectively). But it’s a book of books. That means if you want to know the Bible better, you’ll need to get acquainted with the 66 documents it comprises. Pastor John will be walking through one book of the Bible per week, from Genesis to Revelation and you can see how God has put it all together to tell His message of the saving power of the Gospel!

Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen

7:00 PM; Room 201
Women Only Bible Study led by Beth Harris
Are your thoughts holding you captive? Jennie Allen knows what it’s like to swirl in a spiral of destructive thoughts, such as I’ll never be good enough. Other people have better lives than I do. God couldn’t really love me. But Jennie also knows we don’t have to stay stuck in toxic thinking patterns.

As she discovered in her own life, God built a way for us to escape that downward spiral. Freedom comes when we refuse to be victims to our thoughts and realize we have already been equipped with power from God to fight and win the war for our minds.

In Get Out of Your Head, a six-session video-based Bible study, Jennie inspires and equips us to transform our emotions, our outlook, and even our circumstances by taking control of our thoughts. Our enemy is determined to get in our heads to make us feel helpless, overwhelmed, and incapable of making a difference for the kingdom of God. But when we submit our minds to Christ, the promises and goodness of God flood our lives in remarkable ways.

Oneness Embraced by Tony Evans

Starting October 7th @ 7:00 PM; Room 203
Co-Ed Bible Study led by Pastor Lee
With the Bible as a guide and heaven as the goal, Oneness Embraced calls God’s people to kingdom-focused unity. It tells us why we don’t have it, what we need to get it, and what it will look like when we do.

Weaving his own story into this word to the church, Tony Evans tells of a life spent between two worlds. As a young theologian he straddled black, urban culture and white, mainline evangelicalism. Now, three decades later, he offers seasoned reflections on matters of history, culture, the church, and social justice. In doing so he gives us a biblical and pastoral guide for striving for unity across racial and socioeconomic divides.

This call for unity is as timely as ever. If the church practices oneness, America will have a guide for becoming the one nation under God it declares itself to be.
